This Chateau farms organically with horses instead of tractors, and traces its roots to 1661. The very hot 2003 vintage produced a dense and tannic wine with intense fruit and blackcurrants, and a balancing acidity. The nose has strawberry, vanilla, and a bit of mint. The wines from this estate typically need over a decade to mature and settle, and this vintage is at its peak - showing tertiary qualities and some softness, while retaining power. Decant for sediment, but it doesn’t need much time.
