“The Brooklynites,” our first orange wine, is made from Semillon grapes grown on a single vineyard. We left the golden skins in with the juice for the first 21 days of fermentation, which gave the wine its orange color. At once full-bodied and crisp, this wine is tropical on the nose—papaya, banana, kumquat, and ginger—with notes of citrus and dried apricot on the palate. This batch is named for our two favorite Brooklynites, Carly and Kenny, who contribute daily to The Vice’s success. In spite of its name, this unfiltered, unfined orange wine is a pure expression of Napa Valley’s unique terroir.
