"Loin de L' Oeil" (meaning Far from the Eyes, referring to the vine’s long stems) is a thousand-year-old white varietal that has been almost abandoned. Thankfully, two young winemakers in the Gaillac region of southwestern France, Christian Hollevoet and Christophe Etchebar, decided to resurrect the grape. The result: Les Rials. The wine is our perennial summer favorite, dry yet fruity, with floral and citrus aromas and flavors of tropical fruits, medium weight and always refreshing. There is noticeable mouth feel due to barrel fermentation and being kept "Sur Lie" which provides for more fruit flavors and a longer aftertaste. Delicious with multiple layers and depth of flavor. Pair with salads, seafood or enjoy as an aperitif.
